PurePoint Golf Instruction Golf Backswing and Bending the Knee Advice

I’m going to give you some great golf backswing advice that’s going to help you a lot. There are two mistakes that you can make in the backswing. And then I’m going to tell you the correct way to do it.

The first mistake is, if your shoulder doesn’t move and doesn’t turn backwards, then your arms will run into it and the shoulder will tilt up in the air. And if you do that, the golf swing will look too vertical, and you’ll hit the ground and you’ll hit a lot of shots off to the right.

On the other hand, some of you think so much of turning that you turn your right shoulder and your hips together, and the golf club gets way around inside.

So, for those of you that do this, you’ll wind up hitting a lot of tops because the club won’t swing back down.

So, let me give you some golf backswing advice. This is the correct way. After you’ve addressed the golf ball, the right shoulder starts turning backwards. And that way, this enables the golf club to swing up on the correct plane.

So, if you can move your shoulder out of the way and don’t turn your bottom much, the golf club will move up on plane as you turn away from the golf ball.

Now, I’m going to tell you the role that the knees play during the entire golf swing. The correct posture in golf, in order to improve your golf swing, is that you bend at your hips, over the bones that are on both sides of your hips.

We don’t sit in this sport. We have our knees slightly flexed, and then we bend from the hips.

In the golf swing, the knees never ever get straight in the backswing. They stay flexed the entire way.

The game of golf starts and ends right here. Good players play the sport from inside the right knee as they turn. It doesn’t go out and it doesn’t go straight. But it stays where it was at the beginning of the backswing, so as we start back the knees don’t move.

Now, the downswing: As the arms start to unwind the knees don’t move at all. The centrifugal force, the speed of the golf club swings into the ground.

As the club passes you and your left hip starts to move out of the way, then, and only then, does the right knee start to get straighter in the downswing after impact.

And the entire time, make sure that you don’t lock your left knee in the downswing. Keep it slightly flexed as you swing through. You don’t have to come all the way up and straighten it up.

I think that that might help you improve your golf swing. Think about this tip a couple of times and make sure that this is what you’re thinking of when you swing the golf club, in relation to your knees.

And thanks.

Who was that PGA Golfer from the 80s Famous for always hitting ball into rough & saving for par?

It seems every golf broadcast I watch, whenever a golfer has successfully saved par a few times, they reference a golfer who was notorious for spraying his drives but seemingly always saving for par. Like he was better off hitting into the woods rather than making it easy for himself on the fairway. I’m drawing a blank. (my mind tells me its a latin golfer with an M in the name – prob mistaken)

Fundamentals of a Good Golf Swing – 5 Tips to Ensure a Fundamentally Sound Swing

The fundamentals of a good golf swing are apparent when looking at professional golfers, and having attending a PGA Tour event a few weeks ago at the time of writing this article, I want to talk about 5 observations that I noticed from almost every player, and make no mistake about it these 5 tips can drastically improve your game!

1. The setup: All great golfers have a really quality setup position. The shoulders, hips, arms, and feet are all square to the target line. This enables the pros to hit quality shots time after time, because right off they have eliminated many problems that plague that average player, just by perfecting the setup position.

2. Swing Tempo: While tempo varies from player to player, it is still one of the fundamentals of a good golf swing. The reason is because good tempo allows for a good transition from the backswing to the downswing, keeps other body parts moving together the right way, and helps ensure solid shots.

3. Top of the backswing: Most of the pros are right around parallel at the top of the backswing, and you can tell that they have a good grip on the club, and are in good balance.

4. The downswing. All golfers on the PGA tour start their downswing with the lower body. This is very important because it creates power and leverage, which are both very important to produce distance and accuracy.

5. Last but not least is the follow through. I noticed that the pros always match the follow through with the kind of shot they are trying to hit. For example, a low shot has a low follow through, a high shot has a high follow through, etc.

These are 5 fundamentals of a good golf swing, and should help you hit excellent shots time after time!

Pricing Should Not Be an Issue When Investing in Golf Bags

If you are an experienced golfer, and one that takes the game very seriously, then you most likely take your equipment and golf accessories, such as golf bags, seriously as well. For the novice who is just getting started in the game, knowing which bags and other accessories to purchase can be difficult. There are the high end products made by highly popular companies, and then there are products made by other, not so well known companies. While the higher end products are of excellent quality, there are many products that are as not as expensive.

When you are golfing, the right equipment can make all the difference in your game. A higher price does not always mean higher quality, but it is certainly a start for those looking for an edge. Some of these golf bags may not be as familiar to you but you can be certain they are priced high for a reason. Among these brand names are Slazenger, Ogio and of course Titleist Golf. Bags such as these and the Nike Golf bag are of extremely high quality, but also carry a higher price.

Upon entering a golf store, you will find that there are many golf bags under $150.00 that are of high quality and will not break the bank. A Nike Golf bag is under $100.00, for example. Just slightly over this price is the well-known brand Callaway with their Mini STS bag for $119.99. This is a price that professional golfers and those golfing as a hobby can both respect.

The brand Bag Boy also makes the OCB-15 for just under at $99.99. However if you are not looking to spend $100.00 on such a bag, then there is hope for you and your game. The brand Acuity specializes in lower priced bags that still uphold a standard of quality for men and women. Commonly, their Pro Series bag with a stand costs around $59.99.

While golf bags are not as important as custom golf clubs when it comes to golf gear, they are what a golfer trusts to cart around their clubs. This is why most people make sure that they have a good quality bag. If you are new to the game of golf and not sure what type of bag you should purchase, then looking to names that you have heard of before is probably the best bet. As you grow in your game and get to know other golfers, there will be time to learn about the different brands.
